This book is in its 66th Anniversary (2009) and is still one of the best selling titles of all time. It had gone through many revision and editions to suit the current climate.
Inspired by Andrew Carnegie, Napoleon Hill went on a journey of more than 20 years to study the success secrets of hundreds of America's most successful men. The result is the cumulation of their stories AND the methods to adopt their strategies.
The backbone of the book is the "13 Steps to Riches" which provides a perspective to the theme and demonstrates how all of us is able to adopt the habit/strategy.
What really struck me was the concept of how much more can we achieve by just a thought. The control of our thoughts and what we choose to believe.
This concept eventually led me to be very interested in NLP and drove me to my future readings and subsequently attending NLP related seminars . (which I will share in future posts).
Each chapter is short and to the point. Little stories are told and precise instructions on how to apply the concept and idea.
However, be warned that the book is NOT written to entertain. Some of the concepts may be tough to comprehend fully at first read, but put down the book and come back to read the chapter again after 24 hours and I am sure you will have either a better understanding or a different perspective altogether.
And this is my favourite part of the book,"Instead of creating alibis for my inadequacies, why not take a chance to know who I really am? Admit I am imperfect, profit from my mistakes and end up where I would like to be instead of building alibis to cover my weakness."
This book is good for those who thinking whether you should step out of your comfort zone and into a new arena. Be it start a new business or do something totally alien to you.
